MS MUNARETTO SHINES BETWEEN CARNIA AND VERMENTINO

A perfect weekend for the Veneto-based team: Avbelj seals the IRCup title, Dal Ben dominates his class, Johansson impresses among the Under 25s. In Sardinia, Korhola takes overall second place while Cecchettini storms into the top ten.

Two rallies, two strong results. MS Munaretto enjoyed a weekend to remember, leaving its mark both in the grand finale of the IRCup 2025 in Ampezzo and at the Rally dei Nuraghi e del Vermentino, a key round of the Italian Gravel Rally Championship.

CARNIA: AVBELJ CROWNED IRCUP CHAMPION, DAL BEN AND JOHANSSON DELIVER

It was a triumphant weekend in Friuli for Bostjan Avbelj, who behind the wheel of the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 #3 on Pirelli tyres not only secured victory at Carnia but also clinched the overall IRCup 2025 title. An outstanding performance, underlined by seven stage wins out of eight, perfectly sealed a season of consistency and speed alongside co-driver Andrejka Damijan.

A steady rise for Swede Mille Johansson, co-driven by Johan Grönvall, who claimed eighth overall and the title of best Under 25 driver. Stage after stage, Johansson built momentum, showcasing maturity and determination on the Italian gravel roads.

It was a tougher weekend for Jaspar Vaher, whose campaign ended prematurely. The Estonian, driving the Lancia Ypsilon Rally4 #39 with Rait Jansen, was forced to retire after suffering a technical issue already on the opening stage.

Adding another highlight for the team was Massimo Dal Ben, navigated by Chiara Corso in the Renault Clio S1600 #27. The Italian driver dominated his class, claiming the top step of the category podium and, like Avbelj, delivering seven fastest times out of eight. A commanding display that reaffirmed his strength and determination.

VERMENTINO: KORHOLA RUNNER-UP, CECCHEttINI RETURNS TO THE TOP TEN

On the Sardinian gravel stages, MS Munaretto again proved its strength. Benjamin Korhola, paired with Kristian Temonen, secured a brilliant second place overall, the result of a smart yet aggressive drive. The young Finn also clocked two stage wins, on SS2 and SS6, underlining his growing reputation as one of rallying’s most exciting young prospects.

There was also a spectacular comeback for Tuscan driver Luca Cecchettini, co-driven by Paolo Garavaldi in the Skoda Fabia Evo. Starting strongly, he broke into the top ten overall right from the opening stages, and held on to that position all the way to the finish. A consistent, confident performance that confirmed his competitiveness at national level.
