MS MUNARETTO HEADS TO OLBIA: TWO CREWS TO TAME THE SARDINIAN GRAVEL IN THE WRC

Spotlight on Lauri Joona, eager for redemption after Portugal, and on Pablo Biolghini’s seasonal comeback amidst the breathtaking landscapes and treacherous surfaces of Rally Italia Sardegna.

The roar of the World Rally Championship returns to Italy, bringing with it the pulse-racing action of Rally Italia Sardegna — round six of the 2025 FIA World Rally Championship and the only Italian stop on the global calendar. Flying the flag for Team MS Munaretto are two crews, both determined to make their mark on the dusty, technical stages of Gallura: Lauri Joona and Pablo Biolghini, each behind the wheel of a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, fitted with Hankook tyres.

Following a Portuguese round marred by technical issues, Lauri Joona is ready to turn the page. The young Finn returns with number 31 on his doors and trusted co-driver Samu Vaaleri at his side. For Joona, Rally Italia Sardegna is familiar ground — but never predictable. Grip and rhythm management will be the key to unlocking a strong result.

Joining him with car number 57 is gentleman driver Pablo Biolghini, making his return to the international stage. For his season debut, Biolghini has chosen none other than the spectacular Sardinian setting to break the ice, joined in the cockpit by Stefano Pudda. Their Fabia RS Rally2 will take on a compact yet deceptively demanding route, entirely nestled between Gallura and Monte Acuto.

The 22nd edition of Rally Italia Sardegna, organised by the Automobile Club d’Italia with the support of the Sardinian regional government, promises a gravel-lover’s dream: 16 special stages covering 324 competitive kilometres. Action gets underway on Thursday, 5 June with the new shakedown stage, before ramping up on Friday, 6 June with the first leg through the rugged Gallura landscape. Saturday, 7 June is set to be the toughest day of the rally, packing in a gruelling 122.80 timed kilometres. Sunday, 8 June rounds things off with two largely new stages, each run twice, totalling 79.18 competitive kilometres. The grand finale will unfold on the podium in Olbia at 16:00.
