MS MUNARETTO: EMOTIONS, PODIUMS AND RETIREMENTS IN THE CHALLENGE OF THE BARUM CZECH RALLYZLÍN

A high-tension weekend for the Scledense squad: Johansson secures a solid top ten, Vaher shines on debut but bows out too soon, while Rahill lights up the Czech asphalt with a class victory.

A Barum Rally that kept the suspense alive from start to finish: the historic Czech round of the FIA European Rally Championship once again lived up to its reputation as a spectacular and unforgiving event, delivering mixed emotions for the MS Munaretto crews.

On the tricky stages around Zlín, in front of thousands of fans lining the roadsides, Mille Johansson and Johan Grönvall claimed a valuable top-ten finish thanks to a clean yet incisive drive. The young Swede showed remarkable maturity in tackling the demanding course, immediately finding confidence with the new Pirelli tyres fitted to the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2. A technical choice that provided a clear step forward compared to previous outings, allowing the crew to battle on equal terms with a field of the highest calibre.

Equally striking was the Czech debut of young Estonian talent Jaspar Vaher, co-driven by Sander Pruul. After making a strong impression with back-to-back stage wins in the opening tests, the dream start sadly came to a premature end on SS4, when an off forced the crew into retirement. A bitter episode, yet one that does not overshadow the speed and character displayed over the kilometres completed.

The real jewel of the weekend came from Irishman Craig Rahill, making only his second appearance under Venetian banner the Alongside compatriot Conor Smith, Rahill delivered a commanding performance, winning six out of thirteen stages and sealing his maiden JERC career victory. A result that takes on historic significance, as it also marks Lancia’s first victory in the ERC, bringing a legendary marque back to the top step of the continental standings. Following the fine podium at Rally di Roma, this achievement not only confirms the driver’s potential but also highlights the strength of the team supporting his steady and impressive growth.

For MS Munaretto, the 2025 Barum Czech Rally Zlín ends with a balance of satisfaction, a few regrets, and the firm belief that within its ranks lie young talents destined to leave a lasting mark on the international rally scene.
