AVBELJ SETS HIS SIGHTS ON THE 2026 CIAR

For the Slovenian driver, the technical package remains unchanged and firmly top level, with MS Munaretto’s Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, Damijan Andrejka on the notes and Pirelli tyres.

Bostjan Avbelj and MS Munaretto will continue together, with a target that this time rises in a clear and decisive way. After making his mark in the 2023 and 2025 seasons, both concluded with victory in the Promotion category, the Slovenian driver heads into 2026 with different ambitions, bigger, stronger and more sharply defined ones. This time, the focus is on the Italian first league championship (CIAR), in a season that once again promises to be long, demanding and technically intense. The Italian championship will get underway at the end of March with Rally Il Ciocco and will unfold over seven rounds through to the autumn.

The confirmation of the programme with MS Munaretto represents the natural continuation of a path built on speed, consistency and mutual trust. Avbelj will in fact start again from a proven, top tier package, with the Schio based team’s Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, Damijan Andrejka alongside him in the cockpit and Pirelli tyres completing a combination that offers every guarantee needed to fight at the front.

But the real point is not continuity alone, it is the rise in ambition. After two seasons in which Avbelj established himself as a leading contender by winning the Promotion, 2026 becomes the year to move the target higher and take on the fight for the overall championship without hesitation. It is a challenge that demands pace, clarity and consistency throughout the entire season, but also the ability to stand up in a championship that remains the benchmark for tarmac rallying in Italy.

Bringing the build up to the Italian championship to a close will be an outing designed to help him regain full confidence on asphalt. Avbelj will in fact line up next weekend at the Rally del Bardolino, an event included in the ACI Sport calendar for 13 March 2026, chosen as a test ahead of his CIAR debut.

Backing this project once again will be Freem, a partner that will continue to support Avbelj in 2026 with his homologated racewear, an important element within a programme that, beyond outright performance, also demands solidity and precision in every detail.
