European podium for Doretto in ERC Hungary, Sicilian triumph for Avbelj at Targa Florio, and a strong second for Araldo-Boero in Liguria: the Vicenza-based squad stamps its authority on Junior ERC, CIAR Promotion and CRZ2.
It was a high-intensity weekend for MS Munaretto, closing out three demanding rallies with as many podiums on three different fronts: Hungary, Sicily, and Liguria.
ERC HUNGARY: DORETTO AND BUDOIA DELIVER A PODIUM FINISH
On the treacherous gravel stages around Veszprém, Matteo Doretto and Andrea Budoia delivered a standout performance to secure third overall in the Junior ERC. Behind the wheel of their Peugeot 208 Rally4, the young Italian duo not only overcame one of the season’s toughest surfaces, but also rebounded from a puncture mid-rally to claim MS Munaretto’s second podium in as many ERC rounds, following Vaher’s result in Spain.
LANCIA RETURNS: VAHER AND KAUPPINEN BRING BACK A LEGEND
All eyes were on the international debut of the new Lancia Ypsilon HF Rally4 — marking the brand’s official return to the ERC for the first time since 2003. At the helm, two promising youngsters: Estonia’s Jaspar Vaher and Finland’s Tuukka Kauppinen.
Vaher came close to the podium with an impressive fourth overall, showing speed and consistency in a car he is still learning to master. His performance peaked with two stage wins on SS9 and SS12, proving both pace and potential.
A weekend of two halves for Kauppinen, who climbed as high as third before sliding off the road on SS6. Rejoining the rally after a swift roadside repair — carried out single-handedly — he ended with a final-stage win, narrowly missing out on a top ten finish and confirming both his talent and resilience.
TARGA FLORIO: AVBELJ MAKES IT THREE OUT OF THREE IN CIAR PROMOTION
Down south, on the iconic Sicilian stages of the Targa Florio, Bostjan Avbelj continued his dominant run in the CIAR Promotion category. At the wheel of the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, the Slovenian driver set the pace from the outset, briefly relinquishing the lead in SS4 “La Generosa” before regaining control and sealing the win.
This marks Avbelj’s third straight victory following triumphs at Il Ciocco and the Rally Regione Piemonte, further solidifying his lead in the CIARP standings. His synergy with the Fabia and the twisty Sicilian tarmac was evident throughout the rally.
LIGURIAN PODIUM: ARALDO-BOERO TAKE SECOND AT RALLY DELLE PALME
Completing MS Munaretto’s hat-trick was the Piedmontese pairing of Jacopo Araldo and Lorena Boero, who finished second overall at the Rally delle Palme — a round of the Coppa Rally Zona 2. With an early stage win on SS1 “Coldirodi”, the duo continued to show excellent pace and consistency aboard their Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, confirming themselves as strong contenders in their zone.
THREE RALLIES, THREE PODIUMS: A RELENTLESS OPERATION
From Hungary to Sicily, and the Ligurian coast, MS Munaretto wrapped up a flawless weekend with three podium finishes across three different championships. The results not only underline the team’s technical calibre but also highlight the continued growth and potential of its drivers.
The 2025 season is still unfolding — but one thing is clear: MS Munaretto is here to fight. And they’re not letting up.
